  • Food processor
  • Mesh strainer
  • A bowl
  • Scale
  • Cheesecloth

  • Filter coffee (make sure it is paper filters)
  • For every quart of alcohol, use an ounce of marijuana buds.
  • 90 to 150 alcohol proof

Cold Brew Method:

Cannabis tinctures can be created using the cold brew method, but the CBD integrity and potency must be preserved by freezing the marijuana plant material. Only using top-notch marijuana buds will make this method effective.

The buds must first be frozen and dried. The buds should be ground in a food processor before being added to a big mason jar with the alcohol and tightly sealed for five minutes. The mason jar should then be placed back in the freezer. In two days, remove the jar from the freezer and shake it. At this point, strain it as you do with similar techniques.

Warm Brew Technique:

Cannabis tinctures are typically created using the warm brew method. It takes more time, though. You would place your buds in the alcohol-filled mason jar, close it tightly, and give it a good shake. Make sure you find a brown paper bag that will fit the mason jar; this keeps the tincture from deteriorating due to light. Keep the brown bag in a warm location in your house for up to sixty days. You would start squeezing it through your cheesecloth after sixty days. Then, using the containers you’ve selected, you would bottle it up.

Ingredients:

  • 1⁄8 oz cannabis flower can be buds, trimmed, or shake
  • 4oz Everclear, 151, or similar very high proof liquor (do not use rubbing alcohol)
  • 1 grinder 
  • 1 cookie sheet or baking pan 
  • 1 glass jar
  • 1 cheesecloth
  • 1 dark glass dropper bottle (for packaging)

Grind your dried marijuana into a powder, you can use a food processor or a coffee grinder. A hand grinder is ideal. After the cannabis has been well pulverized, spread it on a cookie sheet and bake for 20 to 30 minutes at 240°F (115°C); this causes the cannabis to undergo decarboxylation, a chemical process required to manufacture edibles. During the decarb process, some terpenes and flavonoids are lost, but you may reduce this by monitoring the oven to ensure the temperature isn’t too high.

Place the cannabis into a glass jar that you can tightly shut after taking it out of the oven. Before closing and keeping it in a cool, dark location, pour the alcohol into the jar and give it a gentle shake.

The basic rule of thumb is that the final tincture will be more potent the longer it is stored. Some recipes promise that the mixture will be ready in a few hours, while others advise letting it sit for several weeks or even a month. Give it a thorough shake once daily if you plan to keep it for longer than 24 hours.

When you’re done letting the mixture sit, remove it and pour it into a sizable container over a mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth. The mixture should be poured into the cheesecloth, let to strain, and then repeated. The medicine is taken, and tiny glass dropper bottles are filled with it using a funnel. Use dark dropper bottles to provide a longer shelf life since they will be less susceptible to light damage.

In the formula above, glycerin or vinegar can be used instead of alcohol. Follow the same procedures as in the recipe above to make high-CBD tinctures, but use hemp or cannabis with a high CBD and low THC content in place of the high-THC cannabis flower.

Tincture with Coconut Oil:

While different oils can be used to create tinctures, coconut oil contains the right amount of fatty acids to bind with the cannabinoids perfectly. Although this process is challenging, you don’t have to decarb the cannabis beforehand.

You’ll Require:

  • Saucepan
  • Coffee filters or cheesecloth
  • Mason jar
  • Grinder
  • One cup of coconut oil
  • 3.5 g (0,12 oz) of cannabis
  • Glass container
  • Grind your cannabis first, but skip the decarbing process.

Directions:

1. Place the pan containing the weed and coconut oil on a burner. For the following, six to eight hours set the heat to medium. You can also add a little water if you think it’s necessary.

2. Pour the oil into a jar, and store your tincture in the refrigerator.
